Teardrop is the first book of its own series and was written by Lauren Kate whom which is also known as the author of the Fallen series. Teardrop is about a teenage girl named Eureka Boudreaux who use to be very close to her mother until she passed away and drowned in a horrible accident. After her mother’s funeral she was given three inheritance gifts: a sealed locket, a thunder stone, and a mysterious book that was written in a language that most people could not translate. She also falls head over heals for a mysterious guy named Ander whom she eventually finds out has a lot to do with her situation. Throughout the novel Eureka discovers the mysteries behind Ander, her inheritance and the secrets of her destiny. Sounds interesting, huh? While I did find this novel interesting and mysterious, I did not find the main character very appealing. Eureka was pessimistic, stubborn and refused to open up to people. Ever since her mother passed away she was very depressed (Which is understandable.) but even though her family tries to help her she wouldn’t let them. She always closed herself out from people and acted like nobody could ever understand her. She use to be suicidal and was in a mental hospital for 2 weeks and therapy was mandatory for her, but she thought that all of the therapists that she had seen wouldn’t be able to help her. In her therapy sessions she would try to avoid conversation, wait for time to fly by, or leave early. She thought that therapy would be uuseless and a waste of her time. Another thing that bothered me about this book was how overly dragged on The description of the appearances of the characters or setting were. I understand that books should have a description of the setting , but we don’t need a full page filled with every detail. Despite the flaws that I have mentioned about the novel, I have stil found the story overal, interesting and enjoyable. But, you should read the novel and see what you think of it. I would give it 2 1/2 stars out of 5 at the least and 3 stars out of 5 at the most. Thanks for reading!
