What Books Do You Recommend?

Books

What good books do you recommend? Preferably fictional novels. I thought about reading another book by John Green since I enjoyed reading The Fault In Our Stars. I often read romance novels but I wouldn’t mind reading other genres. I love when stories are unpredictable. If a story is too predictable it can be a little boring in my opinion. I like when things are spontaneous. Whether it’s books or people. If you have read or are currently reading any books that you would recommend me to read comment the book title and author in the comments. I will also write more reviews on the books I read. Thank you so much!

What I Have Noticed About Romance Novels

Posted on Updated on

Heart

Many romance novels that I have read often portray the mate as “perfect” or “irresistible”. Even if they aren’t perfect their good qualities are more noticeable than the negative one’s. I have noticed that this happens more often with teenage romance novels. A lot of romance novels have happy endings. I’m not saying that that’s a bad thing. But have you ever read a romance novel that doesn’t have a happy ending? Or one where the main character doesn’t get the guy or girl that they wanted to be with? A good example of that would be the book version of The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen. (It’s actually a fairy tale not a novel but it’s a story.) Does she marry the prince in the Disney movie? Yes. But in the original story she didn’t and it also had a completely different moral. But it’s still a great story in my opinion. I’m not complaining about anything I am just typing my thoughts on this. What are your thoughts on romance novels?

My Favorite Book Author.

Posted on Updated on

My favorite book author is Hans Christian Andersen. He is Danish and was born on April 2, 1805. He is known world wide for his fairy tales. Some of his most famous stories are The Little Mermaid, The Little Match Girl, and The Ugly Duckling. Even though his stories are children’s stories, many adults also find his stories entertaining. I was 18 when I bought a book that had 100 of his stories. His stories teach us about the harsh times in life and also teach us valuable lessons.  I personally like his stories because they make me think about  morals in our life. His stories are different from many modern day children’s stories. A lot of children’s stories have happy endings. Hans Christian Andersen’s stories have taught me that a happy ending isn’t always what makes a good story. A lot of his stories are based off of stories that have happened to him in his love life. The Little Mermaid was a love letter by Hans Christian Andersen that he wrote to symbolize his love for a man named Edvard Collin. Some Scholars thought that Andersen was bisexual. He is such a great author that there is even a Hans Christian Andersen Award.  He has also inspired other famous authors such as Kenneth Grahame and A.A. Milne. The International Children’s Book Day is a holiday that is celebrated in honor of him. It is celebrated on his birthday.

The Etiquette Advantage In Busiess Third Edition Book Review

Etiquette Book

The third edition of The Etiquette Advantage In Business was written by Peter Post, Anna Post, Lizzie Post, and Daniel Post Senning. It teaches you etiquette in business. It teaches you etiquette skills for tasks such as,  telecommuting, what to wear to work, office parties, shaking hands, and much more. I would recommend this book to anyone with a job or anyone who is looking for one. Whether your etiquette skills are poor, average, or very well you can still increase your etiquette skills from reading this book. I would also recommend this to business owners and also to people who want to open a business someday. This book is very professional and can teach you professional skills. It is easy to understand. It was also reasonably priced. I would give this book 5 stars out of 5.

Envy Book Review

Envy Cover

Envy is an Empty Coffin novel by Gregg Olsen. It’s about a pair of telepathic twin sisters who uncover the case of their friends death. Their names are Hayley and Taylor Ryan. Their friend is Katie. What they try to figure out if it was suicide or murder. I know the answer I’m just not telling you because I don’t put spoilers in my book reviews. This is one of the very few mystery books that I have read. Most of the novels that I have read are romance. This time I wanted to try something different. Katie had very low self esteem and also engaged in self harm. Because of this many people assumed that her death was from suicide. One of the things that I didn’t like about this story was how boring the twins personalities were. Even though Katie’s “best friend” was quite a snob I still found her more entertaining to read about than Hayley and Taylor. I also found the twins powers hard to understand while I was reading about them. I didn’t understand how they figured out what their powers were telling them because it was hard to connect to the situation.  But the case itself was okay. It was a little predictable but it wasn’t as predictable as Scooby Doo. But if you compare it to Law and Order, it’s very predictable. I would give this book 2 stars out of 5.

The Little Match Girl Book Review

Best Loved Fairy TalesThe Little Match Girl is one of my favorite fairy tales by Hans Christian Andersen.

It is about a poor girl who tries to sell matches on a cold New Years Eve. Not one was sold. She did not go home because if she did her step father would beat her for not selling any matches. She lit some matches to keep warm. She dreamed of Christmas and a feast while she watched the fire. When she saw a shooting star she thought of her grandmother. Her grandmother once told her that when there is a shooting star a soul is going to heaven. Her grandmother had already passed and was the only person who treated her nicely. She saw her grandmother in the flames. She was afraid that her grandmother would go away once the flames burnt out. But then she lit all of the matches at once so that her grandmother won’t go away. Her grandmother had taken her to heaven for the girl had froze to death. I found this story sad but beautiful. The girl may have passed away but she went to a better place and went with someone she loved. Hans Christian Andersen is one of my favorite book authors. I bought a book that had 100 of his Fairy Tales. I used a picture of it as the cover of this post. Even though Fairy Tales are said to be for kids his stories are also loved by adults. I bought this when I turned 18. I would give this book 5 stars out of 5. I absolutely love his stories and I hope you enjoy them too.

The Fault In Our Stars Book Review

The Fault In Our Stars

The Fault In Our Stars is a beautifully written romance novel by John Green. Its about a Girl named Hazel Grace who has cancer and believes that what ever she does won’t matter because one day everyone will be gone. She had a favorite book that a she felt she could relate to and has written letters to the author of her favorite book Peter Van Houten asking him how his book ends. In his he left a hanger cliff and never wrote a second book to it. But he never responded to her letters. But everything changes after she met Augustus Waters. She met him in a cancer kid support group that she didn’t want to go to but her mom highly suggested her to. At one point Hazel got mad at Augustus for “smoking”. He put a cigarette in his mouth and then she told him that  he has cancer and is giving himself more cancer from smoking. He had the cigarette in his mouth but he never smoked it. After Hazel and Augustus become more and more close they eventually to Amsterdam to meet Hazel’s favorite book author Peter Van Houten. And now I will stop telling you what happens here because I don’t want to spoil too much. But this novel is very romantic and is also a bit educational. It will mention some facts about cancer and also some other educational facts. This book truly shows how it feels to be someone who suffers from life threatening cancer. Although I will admit I had a little trouble adjusting to Hazel at first I grew to like her more and more as I kept reading. This is one of my favorite books and I would totally recommend you read it! Thanks for reading!
